Studio Policies
Policies: Our studio policies are the result of 10+ years of safe and successful business, with owners holding over 35 years combined experience in the pole and aerial community. Many answers to frequently asked questions can be found here. By creating your student account you acknowledge and also agree to our studio policies. We provide these prior to account creation (here), via email upon completion of creating a student account, and also in confirmation emails sent upon every class sign up. These policies can also be found on our website. Please read thoroughly to best prepare yourself when visiting the studio. Location and Arrival: Our address is 32 Banks Avenue, Suites 107 & 108, with hanging signage seen from Banks Avenue. Our entrances are located on the right (west) side of the 32 Banks Avenue building, directly adjacent to Vortex Doughnuts. Enter the studio 5-10 minutes before class. We have two dressing rooms, plus bathrooms and water fountains located in our communal hallway. We have a variety of snacks, drinks, and merchandise available for purchase. NOTE: Students arriving 5+ minutes late to group class will not be permitted to participate per our insurance policy, and will be considered a "no show". Arrive on time to complete the entire class-specific warm up, and to avoid causing disruption to class. This policy is firm for all students as it supports us in keeping both students and staff safe. Our instructors never want to turn anyone away, so please plan accordingly when attending classes. Parking: Free street parking can be found on and around Banks Avenue, and there is a parking garage .2 miles from the studio on Coxe Avenue and Federal Alley. Several gravel parking lots are available on and around Banks Avenue that require an app for payment. Failure to pay in a gravel lot may result in being booted or towed. Empyrean Arts is not responsible for towed vehicles. Evening and weekend parking can be challenging; arrive with ample time to park, especially if you are visiting us for the first time. Text us for more information if you are unsure where we are located: 828-782-3321 Cancellations: If within four hours of a class there is one or fewer sign ups, Empyrean Arts may cancel class. Credits are returned should we cancel due to low attendance, instructor emergency, inclement weather, etc.. You will be notified via email and text, and your class credit will be returned. Occasionally a class may need coverage by another instructor; we do not offer early cancels due to a substitute instructor. We do not offer refunds for canceled classes, however your credit will be available for future use. Cancel yourself at least 12 hours before class to avoid losing your credit; canceling within 12 hours is considered a "late cancel" and credits are not returned. For private lessons we have a 24 hour cancellation policy; email or call the studio to cancel and reschedule. For series we require a 48 hour cancellation notice. No make up classes are offered for missed classes of a series, however we offer an open studio credit for one missed class only. For guest instructors and workshops, all sales are final - NO refunds or credit transfers. A 48 hour cancellation notice is required for private lessons with guest instructors. Our cancellation policy is firm as it supports us in paying coaches a living wage for the planning that goes into making your class awesome. Classes: Empyrean classes are non-refundable and non-transferable to another person. Purchase a gift certificate or purchase the class with your card in their account to pay for class for someone else. Family members may share purchases once accounts have been linked - reach out for more info about linking accounts. Be mindful of expiration dates as they are not extendable. In the event that we are able to refund a purchase, we can do so minus a 10% processing fee. Please email us at info@empyreanarts.org if you have any questions about this policy, or to request a refund for emergency situations. Private Lessons & Parties: Private lessons and parties must be paid for in-full in advance to reserve studio and instructor time. Email to schedule your private lesson or party prior to purchasing anything in your account to gauge availability. Private parties must give a cancellation notice of at least 48 hours for a refund minus a 10% processing fee. Parties canceled within 48 hours of schedule time are not eligible for a refund. Spectators: We keep class sizes small for your safety and comfort, and advanced registration is required via your student account. All students must have their own account to sign an electronic waiver, and also to purchase and sign up for classes. In accordance with our insurance policy we do not allow spectators of classes (due to lacking a separate observation area), and also for the comfort of the students present. We do invite parents and friends to observe the last 5 minutes of class, however, when students have end-of-class free time. Open Studio: Open studio is a time in which students can train, play, stretch, and meet other students under host supervision. There is no teaching or skill sharing during open studio. Only trained staff members may rig or handle aerial equipment; ask for assistance from a staff member if you need equipment adjusted for you. Cameras, Videos, Notes: Written notes are encouraged out of respect for others' privacy in the studio. Pictures and/or videos are permitted per coach discretion with the consent of your classmates, so long as they do not disrupt the class/private lesson/party/open studio. Attire: For all Intro and Beginning level classes, capri-length leggings and a supportive top is suitable attire for class (we recommend covering backs of knees and armpits). Avoid clothing with metal accents like zippers, studs, or buttons. As students progress in pole classes, having skin exposed is ideal for better grip; avoid lotions and oils before class. Remove jewelry prior to using equipment. Expectations: In a shared equipment environment, it is important that all students practice good hygiene and maintain a neutral body scent (avoid perfumes, smoking before class, scented lotions / oils, etc.). Any persons under the influence are not permitted in the studio. Disrespectful behavior is not tolerated at the studio. Empyrean firmly stands behind our mission of providing a safe and supportive environment for anyone wishing to visit the studio. We do not condone bullying, harassment, body shaming, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexual misconduct, or any type of behavior that is harmful to others. These behaviors are contradictory to our core values, and inhibit our ability to provide a safe space for all. We recognize that these are areas in which can always improve on, and we are committed to growing stronger and being better as a community space. We will strive to continuously identify and address ways in which our team can become more sensitive to these important topics. We value your feedback, and have anonymous feedback boxes around the studio for you to share your experience with us.
I have read and agreed to the studio policies above.
NOTE:
If you need to cancel a class or private lesson, please do so at least
12 hours
before the start time to avoid losing that class credit.
I have read and agreed to the 12-hour cancellation policy above.
